Client Consent
As a client of psychological services, you have rights regarding treatment and care. Before consenting to a phone consultation or single email response from a psychologist, it is important you understand some important details regarding the nature of this consultation.
The purpose of this consultation is to provide you with an opportunity to share your presenting concern in a confidential, non-judgemental and supportive space.
Through this process your psychologist can then provide you with a general outline of the strategies commonly used to assist clients who present with similar concerns. If you have organised a phone consult our psychologist will also answer any basic questions you may have.
All personal information gathered during the provision of the phone consult will remain confidential and secure except where:
- It is subpoenaed by a court; or
- Failure on the psychologist behalf disclose the information shared may place yourself or someone else at immediate risk of harm
- If disclosure is otherwise required or authorised by law.
Please note that this is only a 15 min phone consult or single email response which provides you with some general suggestions on how psychologists manage presenting issues similar to the one you have raised.
It does not replace a comprehensive psychological session, where an individualised treatment or support plan would be prepared based on your unique circumstances. Please also note that The Avenue Place is not a crisis intervention service.
The Avenue Place doesn’t provide emergency psychological care. If you are in a life treating situation or your life in danger please call emergency services on ‘000’.
If you need urgent psychological care please call lifeline 13 11 14 or visit their website at www.lifeline.org.au. If you are under 18 years of age, please call the kid’s helpline on 1800 55 1800 or visit the website at www.kidshelpline.com.au.
